Olivia Laing, A Herbal Against Time - Limited Edition Print
We are honoured to collaborate with Olivia Laing to create a handprinted letterpress print with proceeds going to Care not Capital, a not-for-profit training gardeners to boost biodiversity and sustainability.
Olivia Laing’s book, A Garden Against Time, is a herbal and a history. In it, they revive a garden in Suffolk originally made by the gay horticulturist Mark Rumary in Suffolk, England. Exploring how nature heals us as we heal it and they tell the long history of gardens in art and literature, from the etymology of paradise to Paradise Lost, theyreveal what role nature has to play in growing a common paradise.
The Herbal Against Time is printed on speckled Hahnemuhle ingres paper. It features a series of original ink drawings by the artist Alice Barker, created into a polymer letterpress plate by Lyme Bay Press. The print was designed by Corran Green and printed by Will J. Wood at the London Centre for Book arts.
Proceeds from the print will go to Care Not Capital, who say: ‘If we have more trained gardeners to look after new and existing spaces, we can have more biodiversity, more vegetation, more food, and more climate-adapted green public space. By providing training in almost everything but horticulture, we’re equipping the 'modern gardener' to create sustainable green spaces for a changing world.’
Limited edition, measuring 280×280mm.
We will ship the prints in a tube. If you would like your print shipped flatpack with packing board for an extra fee please get in touch.
